General Scowcroft will be 88 next week (March 19), and Dr. Zbig will turn 85 (March 28) in two weeks. How kind of DRShow to provide them an outing and early birthday celebrations. The Empire we have now is owing to the policies of these two men, among many other loyal servants of our Oligarchy. They have little possibility of any vision for the future, but are going to disagree on how to slice the world pie.
Neither understands that the pie does not belong to the 1%.
So this will be a good day to listen elsewhere.
Agreed. Our foreign policy had been driven for the last 80 years,by the insane paranoia of folks like Joseph Raymond McCarthy,(McCarthyism). We have pushed Fascism onto countries all over the world. We did not make friends,we made enemies. These Fascists were brutal dictators, each with mass murder to their credit. Here,Ron Paul and I agree 100%. Installing monsters like Saddam Hussein, did us NO favors.
The first lesson of history is that we don't learn from it. America's "idealism", which is a matter of minding everybody else's business, has speeded-up the decline of our republic. Since we didn't learn from the past, we will continue to decline and ultimately fail.
Something does not sound right. While electric grid network may use the same internet protocol (TCP/IP) they are not on public internet. They are altogether a separate network. Same goes for military network. Large companies also do the same when they lease part of the overall bandwidth. Please have network planners involve in the discussion.
Blueneck, I would add that the U.S. engaged in an international policy of realpolitik that served its (immediately limited) purpose for the time. However, it was incredibly short-sighted--especially since Reagan's plan to outspend the Soviets out of the Cold War was well-known in American and global political circles. It seems no one was smart enough to plan for a post-Cold War, virtually multi-polar world.
The Answer To North Korea?
@M Khan:
Intranets are only as good as their firewalls if they have a gate to the internet, which most, if not all, do. I know first hand some government intranets that do, though I am not sure about DOD. That leaves them vulnerable. Even an intranet with no gate is subject to attack via an employee or a physical attack.
Undemocratic Venezuala? A dictator? How can Diane Rehm let these statements pass? Her ignorance, or her cow-towing to men of power, once again shows through.
There were observers to confirm democratic elections. You can see by the outpouring of support why Chavez won democratically.
What they mean by democratic and progressive is the notion that empire will rule. These are very repugnant men who are known liars and whose record is reprehensible on the score of human rights should not be allowed such a platform.
This love affair the left has with dictators should be cause for alarm.
Agree. While employee or employee look alike can cause any physical damage to the node bringing down the whole network usually that is restricted by the level of security clearance as to which locked cage they are allowed. I guess new standards have to be developed for the firewalls.
Hi Diane!
I'm so happy that you are talking about this today. I recently started fasting and reading about it extensively. I am a compulsive over eater or food addict and have been a member of OA for many years. I have not always been successful. Can I fast every day and have just one large meal a day? I find that fasting really curbs my appetite and I love it.
We can`t portray to the world to be a Democracy, while Democracy is a dirty word in this country. We tell the world Democracy is the way to go,at the same time banning voting in the United States. I live in a county with more than 2 million people. We DO NOT HAVE REPRESENTATION IN THE U.S. CONGRESS.NOT ONE.
A week ago, while listening to "World Have Your Say" another PBS show, the guests said. The people of the United States believe stopping the crooks at banks, stopping the thievery of corporations is...SOCIALISM...I wonder which Fox News true believer would poo poo stopping our corporate thievery..??
"I wonder which Fox News true believer would poo poo stopping our corporate thievery..??"
I wonder which MESSNBC true believer would poo poo labor unions illegally running political campaigns ...??"
clifford, there's a lot of bad stuff that goes on. There's nothing worse than the way our Constitution has been hacked to pieces by the liberal progressives for the last 100 years. But, to paraphrase Winston Churchill, "Democracy, especially our democracy, is the worst form of government ... except for all the others".
