If you can never sell them, it effects them. By the way, are you suggesting the call for more gun control is going to stop if we are stupid enough to agree with anything Obama puts forward?
"It’s not even about the millions of weapons gun owners already possess out there already-"
I heard a guy interviewed this week who knew Obama at Harvard. He's now a practicing lawyer. I don't remember his name, but the interview was lengthy and he didn't sound like a kook, a hater, or a conspiracy theorist at all. He said he had a conversation with Obama in school and the topic turned to guns, and at one point Obama said, "I think all guns should be illegal". Now, I know. This is complete hearsay, no specifics, and I can't source it - I admit all that - and, yes, it's what I sometimes criticize other for, but I throw it out there for what it's worth.
The main point is, I don't think he is the only one. I think there are many on the left, some on this mb, that would make all guns illegal if they could.
kay, you are absolutely right. A criminal wants a gun so he can commit a crime with it. He's a CRIMINAL, after all. You can pass 100 new laws with respect to guns. It won't matter He's still going to be a criminal. He will break those laws just as readily as he breaks the first 100! Do you think the criminal will say, "Well, those last 100 laws are just too much. I'll stop committing crimes now"?
More gun laws do not stop crime and do not stop criminals from getting guns. They burden LEGAL gun owners unnecessarily. That's all they do. These are not difficult concepts.

I emailed the show about this yesterday and got a response from producer Denise Couture apologizing, admitting they have been having "data issues", and promising to pass along to their technical staff. They know there is a problem. Not sure how much is being done about it though.
About a year ago, one of the web folks told me they were working toward a new mb (for fall 2012). That obviously has not materialized yet, but hopefully it is still in the works.
Apparently the best arguments “rational” folks make against ban on certain “assault” weapons are:
1) It’s 1st step to taking all our guns away.
No legislators advocate that. Get real.
2) They think “good” guys need same capacity weapon as “bad” guy.
Lots of holes that can be poked in that argument.
It’s not because there aren’t enough guns, that our murder rate is about 20 times the average of other developed countries.
For one, studies confirm that having gun in your home significantly increases your risk of death and that of your spouse and children- No matter how guns are stored or what type owned.
I can understand NRA efforts to suppress actual studies of such issues.
Most burglaries occur when no one is home. In those rare incidents where a burglar is in your home while you are, if you think he(she) might be heavily armed you may want to think twice before going out of your way to initiate shoot-out, EVEN if you were highly trained. If the burglar turns out to be some local kid in once in a lifetime drunken act you shouldn’t need to spray him(her) with dozens of bullets to make your point.
Supplying military arsenal to everyone will not lead to less gun violence. This is common sense.

Drew, I don't know if you're playing games or what you are doing?

No games.
The biggest take away from your video is “ the votes weren't here”.
No one’s coming for your guns.
For every congressman who wants to effect legislation effecting ALL guns there’s likely one on other end of spectrum that thinks ALL kids should be issued AW’s on their 16th birthday (along with some violent video games).
One congressman does not a majority make.
"2) They think “good” guys need same capacity weapon as “bad” guy.

Really? Name one. When you face a home invasion from someone with 30 rounds in his clip and you've got 10, it will seem like a lot better argument to you, I'm betting.
See comment above concerning burglary scenario. If you think you may have a well armed burglar in your house, you may want to think before trying latest move you saw in Swartznagger’s new flick.
Likely perp would not enter house if he (she) knew someone was there, make enough noise to let them know your there- they should be gone quick. If you have an assassin after you, perhaps a defensive stance in which perp would have to enter a door? Keep your gun leveled at door. Likely you won’t need that many shots. If you’ve got a herd of well-trained assassins after you- God help you man.

Likely?! Are you kidding me?! Ya wanna bet your life on what a coke-head might do, Drew Kelly? 'Cause that's what you'd be doing. Ugh!

Home invasions are real popular in these days, as are No-Knock Searches. Wonder what will be going on in eggies dementia addled mind during the 45 Milliseconds between when the door hinges fail and when the well-trained, heavily armored assassin cops cross over the jamb, see his gun and start firing?
Or-
Officer O'Toole arrives on the scene and finds a Bad Guy with an Assault style weapon and a Good Guy (eggie) similarly armed, protecting his Family.
Unfortunately, Officer O'Toole doesn't know, a priori, which is which (Unlike eggie, LaPierre, Keene, W. Bush {Top Gun Texas ANG killer of Iraqi Children} Nuge and them rest of the Good Guy Gunsels in their fantasies.
GOOD LUCK, EGGIE!!!

Surprising? Bill Ayres, militant name of the past. We were reminded by the Fox News propaganda folks about him. He was one of the violence solves all advocates. He should be a right wing folk hero. His view and the NRA view was American`s have a second Amendment right to attack the government. Reality vs fairy tale land.

I showed you with proof that you were WRONG on every assertion.
Are they after handguns, yes.
are they after what we already have, yes
are there legislators that want to come and get what we have, yes.
You dismissed each one because it did not fit in with what you want to believe or want me to believe. These confiscations and total bans are not unusual thinking among the left despite what you want to tell yourself.
Iowa, state Rep. Dan Muhlbauer said governments should start confiscating semi-automatic rifles and other firearms.
“We cannot have big guns out here as far as the big guns that are out here, the semi-automatics and all of them,” Muhlbauer told the newspaper during a December 19 audiotaped interview. “We can’t have those running around out here. Those are not hunting weapons.”
“We should ban those in Iowa,” he said, adding that such a ban should be applied retroactively.
“We need to get them off the streets — illegally — and even if you have them, I think we need to start taking them,” Muhlbauer told the Daily Times Herald. “We can’t have those out there. Because if they’re out there they’re just going to get circulated around to the wrong people. Those guns should not be in the public’s hands. There are just too many guns.”

Dan:
Don’t get so worked up about what one congressman thinks.
There are congressman on other end of spectrum that want armed guards and bulletproof glass in all schools.
Ain’t gonna happen
Votes aren’t there.
Don’t let this be an excuse for you to hold up with your family in a bomb shelter stockpiled with guns in case Gov comes and gets ‘em.
Get out and breath the air- it’s a beautiful day and gov ain’t coming for you.
All that can POSSIBLY pass is preventing further “AW’s” on the streets- the millions already out there- they are good to go.
Get a few if you think it’ll make you safer.
"Ain’t gonna happen
Votes aren’t there."
I think you are probably right, Drew Kelly, but that is not a reason for those in favor of gun rights to stop talking about the potential dangers of gun control (yes, "gun control", not "gun safety" or "protecting our children" or "common sense measures") and the part that the Second Amendment plays in the assurance of a free America.
The issue is still political dynamite, and that is the reason I think you are probably right. Want evidence?
President Obama approval rating: 51%
NRA approval rating: 56%
And the NRA has certainly NOT been courting popularity.
