There are real issues of workplace incompatibility when linemen from a different region and lifestyle are thrown in the mix. Why would Alabama utilities (Southern Company?) insist their boys invade Brooklyn?
Only a Romney/Ryan voter would be foolish enough to take my jests seriously.

I always love your show! Thanks for discussing these post-hurricane issues. Regarding the NYC marathon: I have to say I disagree with the need to create a false sense of normalcy after such a disaster. I feel that it is inappropriate to take resources away from people in need in order to proceed with such an event. The fact is, the situation is NOT normal, and no pretense of security and prosperity is going to benefit people who still lack power. I think it's important to publicly recognize the intensity of emotional, psychological and logistical impact that a tragic event has on people. I was in college in NY during 9/11 and classes were reinstated on the Friday of that week. I and my fellow students found that offensive. So many people were suffering. Return to normalcy is not always the best policy. I think people need public recognition of their suffering in order to move on. Now, in NY, I've been told that apartment buildings are knee deep in water. My best friend is staying in a hotel because the commute back to Brooklyn is unbearable and his company is forcing him to come to work despite his lack of resources. Government officials need to ensure the comfort and safety of all New Yorkers before even thinking about using power and security forces to host a marathon.

Jeanne is interesting today. So one episode by President Obama equals 500 filibusters and a commitment to making sure none of his agenda is passed. I must be in bizarro world

It's unbelievable what they think they can get away with on this phony show. The Republicans and the Tea Party did not scuttle the deal between Obama and Boehner. Obama and the Democrats did that. They had a deal and they went out to sell it to their cohorts and the Democrats said "NO". We want more. 500 billion more. That is what scuttled the deal. This kind of history revision is why we need to get the government out of funding this political propaganda masquerade.

Why can't we simply view the comments of governor Christie in non-political terms as genuine thanks and admiration for President Obama and his team helping out a state in need? Our media and the general populas are trained to look at everything governmental in political terms. Here's an opportunity to see non-partisanship in action and praise it. Instead it is deluded into a political act. Major Garret is correct -- this is true government in action. Let's recognize it and praise. Governor Christie hasn't necessarily changed his views on the Obama's administration's performance the past few years. But great to hear a republic praise a democrat for a job well done! Christie is the kind of republic I, as an independent, would vote for. Though republican leaning, I've found the republican extreme obstructionism of the past four years makes be vote for Obama. No matter how appealing Romney is, I don't trust his party.

Thanks for doing that PP, I was in a hurry and lazy. Good work by CBS, yes?

Liked your point about Christie. Obama was winning NJ anyway so it probably doesn't matter. Christie was so obviously positioning himself for 2016 during the convention; works against him if Romney wins.

Gee whiz, that Pancake guy is nutty isn't he?

The truth about Benghazi and O'Bama's gross negligence is finally being covered by the main stream media. This reinforces O'Bama's incompetence and will result in his defeat this Tuesday. Thank God!

November 2, 2012 - 10:45 am

I've read a story by a reliable source that Romney has a secret polygamist family. Any truth to this and has anyone asked him about it?

November 2, 2012 - 10:48 am

I'm so sick of Romney and other Republicans lying about the tax burden on businesses. While not true for most small businesses, some of the largest ones have minuscule tax rates. If you google the following: companies that paid zero taxes, companies with largest CEO salaries, and take those lists and google the company names with the word "layoffs" you get an interesting fact.

Even zero taxes do not mean that companies will hire more workers. It DOES mean that the CEO can earn a few more million dollars and the shareholders will be happy.

Meanwhile, companies that made huge profits--billions, in fact, still have their collective hands out when they do expand. Caterpillar loves Governor Perry, having gotten millions of dollars in incentives to hire a few hundred people.

I have no sympathy for companies that pay their CEO the equivalent of hundreds of workers salaries yet cry poverty.

@ Consultant

Make sure you come back next week if your prediction is null and void. In other words, don't go run and hide. ;-)

There was no reason that Chris Stevens and his three associates needed to die other than trying to save them would not have fit the O'Bama narrative that terrorism had been defeated. God bless them on this All Souls Day.

Because, as attractive as that notion seems, it is completely naive.

Consultant: You fail to understand that our "government and military" are permeated with agendas, cabals and plots no President can control. Even the Mormons sponsor a rogue syndicate in the CIA. "Bidness" interests though are the biggest menace. Ambassador Stephens stepped on some Oligarch's last nerve instead of hanging out in Tripoli stamping visas.

@ Consultant

So Paul Ryan and his buddies cutting money for embassy security two years in a row, including $331 million the year before, had nothing to do with it. Guess you can't see that through your rose-colored glasses. Oh and do me a favor, leave God out of your "personal" view.

Once you've rechecked the count on those "500 filibusters", you can start counting the number of house budgets and other bills that Majority Leader Reid never brought up on the floor of the Senate.

MSM is trying to minimize the effect and they have since Sept 11.
The main issue is still the economy, however. There is a path for Romney to win 40 states.

SteMar- Who cares if Mitt has 100 teenaged spirit wives off-planet on Kobol?
With or without he's a heartless dork.

I live in Chapel Hill, NC, and heard on tv last night about voter intimidation.......a guy had effigies of OBAMA in his truck

40 states!! What are you smoking. 40 states. Comical

November 2, 2012 - 10:59 am

Anyone have a link to that last second audio with the crying little girl. At the end of D.R. broadcasts I find myself getting dizzy and nauseous and have a hard time focusing.

November 2, 2012 - 11:03 am

In regard to where Romney stands on climate change, there is no question. Remember at the RNC his smirk as he made his little "joke" as to how Obama is trying to stop the oceans from rising, while he (romney) is trying to help families.
He once again has no clue.

November 2, 2012 - 11:06 am

Becky in Chapel Hill: Thanks for reminding us the spirit of racist and sexist lynching yet lives in NC. A truck with hanging effigies of Obama and outgoing Governor Bev Perdue is trolling the polls down east. In Stanley the good old boys park vehicles with Confederate symbols near the precincts.
The police are in on the "joke." So much for security in the Fatherland.

November 2, 2012 - 11:06 am

"40 states!! What are you smoking. 40 states. Comical"
Not funny at all for the Democrats.
Look at the map, 1don. What you don't get about elections is that voters tend to break toward the eventual winner in large numbers. That's why Reagan obliterated Carter, though the polls were close until nearly election day. Everything that is not solid blue today (and that's about 10 states) has the potential to go to Romney. The fact that the Obama campaign sent their #1 surrogate Bill Clinton to MN (a light blue state) to shore up that state tells you they know they are in trouble.

November 2, 2012 - 11:08 am
