Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has injected himself into American politics.Today right wing extremist Jewish superpaks are throwing more money in. Does anybody see the video of these demonstrations about a stupid bigoted video? What do you think the Muslim reaction would be if Israel used a tactical nuclear weapon in Iran?
Maybe World War III ?
There have been some photos on the blogosphere purporting to show our Ambassador being assaulted before and after his death. Is there any evidence whatsoever that would confirm such an assault or are these photos simply fake?
I am tired of the Muslims who have called into the station and talking about how we have riots and clashes, they mentioned the Rodney King insident. First of all America gives its people the Freedom of Speech and yes ther have been riots, and thoso who have broken the law do get arrested and they have their day in court and if found guilty they go to jail. Those who killed our Ambasador will never be found, and if they are will probably be rewareded. They kill and burn in the name of Allah, I still remember those contractors that were killed, burned and then hung from a bridge. This video is just another excuse to kill Americans. The people of all these countries asked for help and now they bite the hands that feeds them. America has to wake up and pull out. Yes there are good people in these country but unfortunatly they are the few. The majority of these people are fanatics and indoctrinate their children to hate us, its a cycle that will never be broken.I am glad that America open her arms to me, this might not be perfect but it beast the alternatives. GOD BLESS AMERICA A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN HAVE FREEDOM
On Wednesday a U.S. counter terrorism official confirmed that the attack on the U.S. consulate and the subsequent deaths of four Americans was a terrorist attack by foreigners linked to Al Qeada. Do we know if this was an attack in retribution for the U.S. drone killing of Al Libi. I had read over a year ago that former Al Queada members were leading the Libyan rebels. I have read that Ambassador Stevens worked closely with the Libyan rebels. Is this a case of the U.S. playing the card the enemy of my enemy is my friend coming back to bite the U.S. in the hind end?
Regarding anti-Muslim films, cartoons, etc., I think that many people in Western-style democracies do not agree with the ideas, but feel as if our rights to free speech are being held hostage by the violence erupting from fundamentalists all over the Muslim world. We should not allow our rights to be abridged through apologies and appeasement by Western governments. This is taking respect for religious faith too far. It is unlikely that we would see threats and violence of this magnitude from any other religious group, even if their religious sensibilities were violated in an extreme way.
The movie maker who made that horrible anti-muslim, anti-Mohammed movie absolutely knew that he would cause riots and uprisings in Muslim countries. He was practicing hate-speech and he knew it. That's the reason for the lies and subterfuge when he made the movie, even lying to the people who acted in it. And he continues to hide his role. The financer, the director, the producer of the movie are all guilty of hate-speech and that is a criminal act. They SHOULD be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and for the murder of the Ambassador as well as any other deaths or injuries that occur as a result of their hate-speech and inciting people to riot. Please do not say that they did not know because all of their actions surrounding this movie shows that they DID know they were breaking the law.

How does Obama and the campaigns "spiking the ball" play in your misinformed little world Kathleen?
"Last week John Kerry said: "Ask Osama bin Laden if he is better off now than he was four years ago." According to the Egyptian newspaper Al Ahram, the Cairo mob answered that taunt with the chant: "Obama, Obama there are still a billion Osamas."
Helen Pat wrote: "They SHOULD be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law"
Yes they should, which means no prosecution and no hassling. I guess you forgot that this is supposed to be a free country.
Last Sunday on Meet the Press David Gregory asked Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu if he was trying to influence the U.S. Presidential election. Netanyahu of course denied such efforts. This week an ad with PM Netanyahu has been released in Florida with Netanyahu's "red line" speech about Iran which we know will stir up votes for Romney in Florida.
Please discuss this foreign leader making such extreme efforts to influence our election. Now we know that Israel influencing our Presidential elections has become normalized but that does not make it acceptable. What other country so publicly tries to influence our elections like this?
I disagree that they should be prosecuted. We are in danger of losing any right to criticize Muslims at all, for fear of reprisal. The film was stupid, boring, and absurd, but I defend the rights of any citizen in our country to write terrible books, make terrible art, take offensive photos, etc. By defending their 1st amendment rights, I defend my own 1st amendment rights.
It's absurd that Israel is demanding "red lines" in regard to the unsubstantiated claims about Iran when Israel crosses the "green line" everyday undermining their own security and U.S. national security....daily
The Dept of Justice is investigating the Islamophobe video. At the leader of the Islamophobe Pam Geller's website Atlas Shrugged she has a post from last year where she ask for people's economic support for such a hateful film
The motive for this film is not in question. It was made to cause trouble in the Muslim world, with the purpose of hurting anyone working with, having sympathy for or living in, plus all Muslim people who would object to the film. I find anyone who does ANYthing with the sole purpose of hurting people as heinous,, criminal and wrong. There is NO right of free speech for anyone who does it with the intent of causing harm and this movie was made with that intent. Don't muddle up the debate with the idea that it in any way deserves the right of free speech protection. I am in favor of serious, respectful discussion of differences to find ways to come together with respect for both sides, but This had no such intent and does not deserve any protection. If there was any other motive, the people who financed and made this film would be open about who they are and with the actors. But they lied all the way through because their motive, they knew, was criminal.
Hello, thank you for the great shows.
During the Friday News Roundup International, I heard that freedom of speech restrictions over the Holocaust applied only in Germany.
I think that these restrictions also apply to other European countries, like France for example.
Best regards,
I am a proud American of Chinese heritage who researched both American and Chinese histories after being told "to go back to where you came from." I note that your panel was mistaken about the Diaoyutai islands.
Unlike expansionist acts elsewhere, these islands have considerable, historic meaning to the Chinese People. The Communist leaders risk losing the "mandate of the people." Too weak back in 1972, they made little noise when we turned the islands over with Okinawa to the Japanese, while breeching Taiwan's territorial integrity.
Japan took these island as part Taiwan in 1895 after China lost to Japan in their first invasion. Japan's colonization effort continued until their defeat in World War II. During the period in between, they built a Japanese railroad over Manchuria and created the puppet Manchukuo. The very racist Black Dragon Society, which viewed the Chinese as second class human beings, spearheaded their efforts and its inheritors are personified by Ishihara, Tokyo's mayor, the instigator behind the current dispute
And, the Japanese invasion was every bit as savage as the Nazi's were in Europe. [Unit 731 tortured prisoners and a head-chopping contest was heralded in the Japanese news media.] Most Chinese families have suffered at their hands and the memories have not faded. Germany had apologized over its atrocities but Japan never did. So, the wounds have never healed and they are reopened easily.
So, we gave away islands to which we have no right. To us, they are worthless, but to the Chinese people on both sides of the Strait they represent their dignity.
One possible solution is for us to negotiate with Japan and return the islands to Taiwan. Neither we nor Japan would be caving in to China. And, they would be in Chinese hands so the Chinese dignity is intact. Finally, Taiwan would regain lost territory.
Motive has nothing to do with it. It is a clear case of free speech rights and I for one will not be intimidated by Muslim violence or attempts at moral equivocation on this question. So what if Muslims are offended? Should we let the threat of Muslim violence dictate our actions as free citizens? Their religious sensibilities do not trump our constitution.
Why is it called "Green on Blue" attacks when it is infiltrators and not the actual Afghanistan Military doing this. That term implies that all of the Military is against the U.S. Not sure that is true.
@kathleen you asked "What other country so publicly tries to influence our elections like this?" I have a question for you.... How do you feel about a president who supports "Arab spring" without regard to the anarchy, chaos, murder and retributions that are heaped upon the residents of those nations and as a result, eventually upon the US because of his meddling? His support has without doubt influenced the actions in the middle east. How about applying the same rules to your beloved Obama as you do to Israel and Netanyahu? This Jihad against the US started during the Carter administration and has been fermenting ever since. Do you think that when the US was supplying weapons to Osama to fight against the Russians (under a democratic president's watch at the time...) that they considered what the result would be when the support ended and they turned their back on him (again under a democratic president's watch...) I see tons of "extreme efforts to influence" on our side of the line too. Netanyahu has given up on Obama and so should this nation... He sold all of us out in so many ways...
The war hawks have been able to drag the USA into violent adventures for over two decades. Developments in Syria indicate that other great, Russia & China, powers have developed the economic and military capacity to resist the expansion of American hegemonic power. At least in some regions. This means American policy makers are going to be less willing to be dragged to war. The seduction of adventure has faded.
This has unnerved the war hawks and the Likudnics . Because of the partial change in the balance of power between the USA and its competitors, the adventurists have overplayed their hand. All they can think of is to do more of the same. A spectacle of hysteria will continue until they come to their senses. We are in the age of Mearsheimer and Walt, not Dennis Ross and Martin Indyk.
