The reason Obama wants another 4 years, is to remain in "POWER". The reason Romney wants to become President, is to get in "POWER". Each will do or say whatever it takes to get the votes to have the "POWER". The liberal/conservative ideology that gets trumpeted many times over is just smoke to distract you from the real problem; which is "CORRUPTION". All that campaign money for the President and Mr. Romney comes with "strings"! And you can bet they will call in their markers once "their" man in firmly at the helm. Neither man is ethically or morally better than the other. But one thing is for sure, unless we have a plan to reduce our National Debt, the party will be coming to an end for us all. And don't think Congress isn't bought and paid for either. Corruption is what will end us, not whether gays can marry, or abortion is legal.
Much of the discussion and items being argued concerns "entitlements".......which really mostly means Soc and Medicare. Republicans run around with their hair on fire about how much the Boomers are going to demand from those programs in the next few years. Keep in mind that a major trend affecting Boomers is the fact that as they retire they will NOT have those defined benefit pensions their parents and grandparents could fall back on.......theirs is the first generation reliant on IRAs, 401(k)s, SEPs, former Keoughs, and the like. Those retirement instruments were brought in by the one percenters to save their businesses billions in what would have been pension set-asides.
AND those instruments took the brunt of the 2007-2009 downturn........Anybody remember folks in line for job interviews in those days.....all holding charts of their dwindling retirement assets??
Anybody whose IRA or 401(k) or 403(b) or whatever was blown away by the Bush Debacle can say their retirement funds are better off now than 4 years ago if they didnt ditch their accounts. To compound the trouble, many Boomers counted on their homes as a nest egg for retirement. If they survived the foreclosure boom (which Romney said/says is the right way to have handled the real estate downturn) those Boomers still cannot get to their nest egg.
If the Republicans rip into Soc Sec and obviate Medicare as they plan, there is sure to be a Boomer Depression that even Ayn Rand did not have to endure.
If the US invested in GM and Chrysler, which were depressed companies at the time the rescue efforts occurred, and now GM and Chrysler are rolling in profits and paying the US stockholders, and repaying their loans, and numerous jobs were saved,.........Isn't that the Bain style approach we have heard is supposedly SO successful??
If Bain/Romney can benefit and collect kudos, can't the US and the administration do so as well?
What is sauce for the goose is gravy for the gander.

This from the guy who says Clint Eastwood's "choice of politics is highly questionable." Perhaps you need to brush up on Ayn Rand as much as you do Eastwood.
"Clint Eastwood considers himself "too individualistic to be either right-wing or left-wing", describing himself in 1974 as "a political nothing" and "a moderate" and in 1997 as a "libertarian". "I don't see myself as conservative," Eastwood has stated, while noting in the same breath that he isn't "ultra-leftist" either. At times, he has supported Democrats in California, including liberal Representative Sam Farr in 2002 and Governor Gray Davis, whom he voted for in 1998 and hosted pricey fundraisers for in 2002 and 2003. A self-professed "liberal on civil rights", Eastwood has stated that he is pro-choice on abortion. He has endorsed same-sex marriage and contributed to groups supporting the Equal Rights Amendment for women, which failed to receive ratification in 1982. In 1992, Eastwood acknowledged to writer David Breskin that his political views represented a fusion of Milton Friedman and Noam Chomsky."
Hey Diane, POTUS Obama is also among the 1%. But he used the presidency to obtain his millions as his books didn't sell until he became POTUS. These would be the very same books the liberal media purchased but never read.
Ron Elving actually mentions the Rolling Stones article on Romney as if the magazine is a credible source for unbiased reporting.
Why was Stuart Rothenberg afraid to say that The DR Show has the same ideological point of view as MSNBC? Imagine the pressure he must feel sitting in the DR Show studio to preface his remarks by excluding Diane.
Herr Marcus Tullius Cicero,
Ayn Rand died in abject misery while using the very social props that she blasted during her life - on Social Security and Medicare. Imagine one of her literary heroes of individualism-at-all-extremes stooping to take government assistance. She was a lifelong atheist and commented that the poor and disabled should be treated as the dirt beneath her feet....truly an ironic turn considering her last days. Rand hardly fits the pseudo fundamentalist religious types that comprise the Republican party.
As for Mr. Eastwood, he was NOT always a skilled actor and probably benefitted from the groundwork laid by other actors and members of tge Screen Actors Guild...including the acceptance of awards from that union. NObody is so accomplished in sports or business or the cinema as to be innoculated against valid criticism of their political opinions OR awkward embarrassing theatre of the absurd performances. His grumpy foolish display ranks up there with Charleston Heston clutching a flintlock at an NRA meeting.
The first shall be last, and the last shall be first.
Actually Elving the "fact checkers" are the ones who had to walk back calling Ryan's statements on plant lies.

It was reported by the NY times her estate was valued at $500,000 at the time of her death. It may give you pleasure that she had lung cancer and died of a heart attack later on, but there is no surprise that you as a liberal like to spread the misery around and when someone disagrees with you and your socialist philosophies that you get off on their perceived misery whether true or not.

I don't know what is worse, a liberal such as yourself appropriating the nick name of the first Republican president, or your bizarre explanation for why you say Eastwood's politics are "questionable" when he supports pro choice, just as you do, endorses same-sex marriage, just as you do, supports the Equal Rights Amendment for women, just as you do, and votes for Democrats, just as you do.
Are you really saying that your politcs are "questionable?" OK.
Perhaps you do not like his support for the 2nd Amendment? Are there any other Constitutional Amendments that you wish to deny to Americans?
BTW: What is "grumpy" about Chuck clutching a flintlock at an NRA meeting?
