Update From The Republican Convention

Update From The Republican Convention

Mitt Romney becomes the official GOP presidential nominee and the speeches begin. Please join Diane and guests to discuss the latest developments at the Republican National Convention.

Mitt Romney officially became the Republican Party’s 2012 nominee at the Republican National Convention yesterday. Hours later the full bore effort to broaden his appeal began. His wife, Anne Romney and up and coming Republican Party leader, Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey gave speeches aimed at weak spots in Governor Romney's support: female voters and undecided voters dissatisfied with President Obama’s performance. This week’s Republican convention presents a critical opportunity for Romney to re-introduce himself on the national stage. Please join us for an update from the convention

The election of a black POTUS could only happen if "rampant racism" in the USA were a myth. But being black isn't going to carry the day for POTUS Obama the 2nd time around. He will be judged on his record just as if he were a white POTUS.

Perhaps caller Hillary from Miami will also call in during the Democratic Party Convention and ask "why are we still doing conventions?" Did the caller think it was "weird" when Michelle Obama said ""for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback."

Although I am a strong proponent of discourse and debate, I am dismayed and appalled that there is even a discussion regarding the deletion of Algebra from the curriculum. Algebra may be difficult for some, and that is a good thing, in that an essential component of education ought to be learning to deal with difficulties. Algebra is very basic, and beyond, it is important for everyone to have a basic understanding of statistical methods and the basic concept of calculus. The concepts inherent in the subject matter are essential to having an understanding of life today and to achieve a measure of success in our society.

"...her references to hardships early on is just plain disingenuous coming from someone who married into an extremely wealthy family."

And on the other hand (The Left {Democrat} Hand), I read this week that after Jimmy Carter's Father died and Jimmy resigned from the Navy in order to salvage the Family Business, He and Rosalynn lived in Public Housing.

I compared the most recent Presidents- Obama, Clinton and Carter, all more or less Poor Boys, versus Bush, Bush and the Pretender Romney, those Men who fell into every good thing that happened to them.

If there is a Nobility of Achievement in this Nation, it must begin with Democrats who start with nothing and build something worthwhile and ends with trash like Bush, Bush and Romney, who got EVERY advantage and still leave behind nothing but Misery and Ruin.

If the American People really do want to be governed by people who understand them and their Lives, they will be well advised to look past these dying Dynasties, these Psuedo Elites.

Liberals just can't help making asinine comments:

"Yahoo News' Washington bureau chief was fired Wednesday after he was caught on a hot mic joking that Republicans are "happy to have a party" while black people drown.

The comment was made by David Chalian during live coverage of the Republican National Convention in Tampa, and was an apparent reference to the convention getting underway while a tropical storm-turned-hurricane barreled toward the Gulf Coast.

"They are happy to have a party with black people drowning," said a voice off-camera, later identified as Chalian, as video of the Romneys played on screen. Other people could be heard laughing at the comment."

Poor, poor sad Man, kept in your place, weak and dependent on your Betters and forced to just keep repeating your pathetic, fallacious and tired old GOP talking points.

Teachers and their Unions have ZERO to say about Curriculum, ZERO to say about Hiring and Firing, Zero to say about Discipline, Zero to say about Salary, Zero to say about their Supervision, Zero to say about Textbook selection, ZERO to say about Certification, ZERO to say about College Major Courses.

If there is blame to be placed, let it be on School Boards and Normal Schools.

Some Republican Mayors of large Cities have taken over full control of their School Systems and are at least partly responsible for the "inner city schools (that) fail in epic proportion because of them".

That story is crap, Klein could have fired him years ago, who knows why he didn't. If you weren't so ignorant, you would know that Tenure is not absolute and Moral Turpitude and/or Crime is unconditional grounds for firing.

And isn't NYC the very School System I just alluded to a few Moments ago??

Well, Fooey on yoU and Fooey on your Anecdotes, they add absolutely nothing to the discussion of the 14,000 School Systems in the Nation.

And after all, as you yourself just quoted my statement above--

Since most of their Goods would still be competitive, the Tariff would be a nice 20% Sales Tax on the Middle Class and start a trade war that will decimate are already puny Exports.

Then unbelievably, he taunted the Chinese for going to the Moon 43 Years after we did.

My post was meant for what one specific person on this forum wrote, not for conservatives in general.

Where did I ever talk about a war on women or contraception?

But to answer you for the heck of it: Republican talking heads show their ignorance of women's issues time after time. They do not know how birth control works, they do not know what it is like to be pregnant or give birth. Over and over they belittle rape (your body shuts it down, it's the same as having a baby out of wedlock). Republicans in Congress voted against the paycheck fairness act and legislators don't like to hear the word 'vagina'. The majority of FOX commentators only spoke to men on whether religious institutions should cover birth control.

Ted Kennedy was a horrible person. But as he's been dead for 3 years, he's certainly not the future of the democratic party.

Let's see. FOX News Megan Kelly gave birth April, 2011 to daughter Yardley Evans. She also has a 3 year-old son Edward Yates. FOX News Laura Ingraham has three kids. FOX News Martha MacCallum has two sons and a daughter. Are you saying these children materialized in a test tube?

Did you ever say to another liberal that Teddy was a "horrible person" when he was alive? The Democratic Party doesn't have a future. Bill Clinton is the star speaker at their convention. His track record is no better than a Kennedy when it comes to their wretched treatment of women. But hey, as POTUS, he was for abortion on demand. That makes him okay dokay in the liberal book of accepted misogynists.

MHopeFul wrote:

Wrong. They voted against the bill to amend the statutory limitations of Lily Ledbetter Act.

August 29, 2012 - 10:13 pm

I don't watch fox, but are they pundits or are they putative journalists? All the examples I gave were from legislators who actually can make a difference in women's lives, anchors on fox don't write laws.

The men who spout these ignorant opinions hurt the image of the republicans. How do you get your economic message out there when seemingly every day another state legislature comes out with some hare-brained scheme to try to prevent abortion (let's make them watch a video of fetal development, but they can cover their eyes?) or someone like Akin makes stupid statements? Of course the press is going to cover it! It is much more interesting to most of the American people. Their ratings get higher because of it. Assuming a totally liberal media, you should know what will be said. Why then does the right play into the left's hands?

Yes, I have spoken to other liberals about Ted Kennedy. Not a lot because he was mostly before my time and I'm not even close to Massachusetts and so couldn't vote for or against. But I really find the Kennedys as a whole distasteful.

The Paycheck Fairness Act never made it out for debate as every republican voted against it and it never made it to the floor. No matter the name, republicans look like they're against women being paid the same as a man.

My only point to all of this back and forth is that the democrats are creating a narrative that the republicans 'hate' (no better word comes to mind, but it's not quite the word I want) women. The republicans are giving democrats all the ammunition they need. And then when I come here, lo and behold a conservative negatively compares my entire gender to a group he despises. Should my take away from this be that conservatives value women?

August 30, 2012 - 1:10 am

Tell us, then, exactly what you meant.

Why did you call the democratic convention the uterus convention?
