Following the unauthorized release of details about the Osama bin Laden raid, the Senate Intelligence Committee backed a bill last week intended to curb security leaks. Chris Cillizza, political blogger for The Washington Post, said the measure limits the number of national security officals who are authorized to speak to the news media. Greg Ip, economics editor for The Economist, said one of the effects of the bill is that reporters might seek less reliable and less knowledgable sources of information for their stories. "The public might end up less informed than before," Ip said.

The Chick-fil-a issue is not about a difference of opinion on the definition of marriage or even the nature of homosexuality. It's not about conservative Christianity versus liberalism. It's far more serous. The LGBT community has been trying to bring attention to the links between Chick-fil-a and the Family Research Council for years.

The Family Research Council has been designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. They did not earn this designation by holding an anti-gay, conservative Christian perspective, very few conservative Christian organizations have been designated hate groups by the SPLC. They earned it by supporting the criminalization, imprisonment and deportation of homosexuals. For publishing anti-LGBT propaganda, lies equating homosexuality with pedophilia. They also lobbied Congress to NOT condemn Uganda's 'kill the gays bill.

It's time for the media to step up and get at the truth of this dangerous force in our society that presents a threat to LGBT citizens by fueling the irrational hate and violence directed at my community. You can do better Diane. A simple statement of fact on this issue could have had a great influence on your listeners, leading to much needed change. It is a fact that all of those who support CFA support the agenda of the Family Research Council.

On the economy, one of the guests made a point that we can't blame Obama, Bush, Clinton or Bush Sr for the economy, it's far too complicated. That may be true but I believe we can blame one ideology for the mess we're in and that's the discussion we should be having. The conservative movement brought in by the Reagan Presidency has been a massive failure. I thought this would be obvious after the historic crash of 2008, that we would have to step back and admit to this failure. Both parties were forced to embrace this ideology, pointing fingers is irrelevant.

The Republicans have pushed themselves so far into their extremist corner that they're STILL campaigning on trickle down economics as a solution to $14 trillion in debt. The Democrats can't move back to the center until the media does it's job and we have a serious debate about our future. This country has been so brainwashed by this Ayn Rand mythology that Obama is successfully labeled a socialist for making a small attempt to balance the budget. Reagan would be kicked to the curb for being a Marxist by today's GOP.

"The Family Research Council has been designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center"

And that means about ZERO, a racist organization determining it doesn't like free speech, there's a shocker!

"Obama is successfully labeled a socialist for making a small attempt to balance the budget. Reagan would be kicked to the curb for being a Marxist by today's GOP"

Small attempt to balance the budget, yes very small. Obama's budgets were and are the biggest in the history of the world and that is not an exaggeration. What is an exaggeration "Reagan would be kicked to the curb for being a Marxist by today's GOP" maybe not an exaggeration for the history books but it's right up there.

Come on. SPLC is a political organization that singles out conservatives, but turns a blind eye to Muslim fundamentalism that actually does want to liquidate gays.

Then I would suggest if you feel this way to not eat at any CFA establishments. When hysterical liberals try and demonize anybody who does chose to eat there then you are guilty of the same intolerance you claim offends you.

@Marcus

How is my statement demonizing? It's a fact that CFA donates millions to organizations that publish anti-gay propaganda based on lies, support the criminalization and deportation of LGBT people and lobbied Congress to not condemn Uganda's 'kill the gays bill'. People should be aware of where CFA's profits go, that is the point of this protest. If you feel fine about where the money goes, please, do eat there, but don't pretend that this is simply about the definition of marriage and 'Christian values' and nothing more. It's far more serious.

Are you suggesting that a link to this conservative Christian organization is an insult?

@partisan

If you watch Fox News and adopt a narrative that ignores the 8 years prior to Obama's Presidency, I can see how you'd come to this conclusion. Yes, it's a fact that Obama's budgets are huge but most of us understand the reason the country is in such a mess and it's not because of the $800 billion stimulus. A substantial percentage of that went to tax cuts.

Ryan and Romney are calling for more tax cuts and cuts in government spending while we're facing a $14 trillion debt. The same line we've been hearing since Reagan was in office. Republicans have yet to deliver a balanced budget. They deliver on tax cuts and then leave a fiscal emergency for the opposition to clean up as Obama is attempting to do. We all pay for this debt which is basically paying for ten years of tax cuts for the corporations and the wealthy; a devalued dollar, higher energy and food costs, SS & Medicare constantly at risk.

Republicans can't make the necessary cuts in government spending to pay for this madness, it's political suicide to eliminate government services and the social safety net. We need some grownups to come to the table and deal with reality. To stop promising voters that they can have it all. We had our free ride, it's time to face the consequences.
