John Harwood, chief Washington correspondent for CNBC, responded to a listener's question about the power of the National Rifle Association to determine who runs for office. Harwood said the bipartisan vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress was a result of the NRA's political influence. Ron Elving, Washington editor for NPR, explained the purpose of the Fast and Furious policy and discussed its implications for U.S lawmaking. Yes, FDR is principally at fault for providing America with a time of unparalleled affluence for both rich and poor alike....oh the shame.

You have got to be kidding quoting Wallace. This loon was an admirer of Stalin and his foremost American cheerleader in the U.S. Government. One of the most astute things FDR did was drop Wallace from the VP ticket in 1943 and replace him with Truman.

just substitute "oligarchy" for "Federal Government" and you've got something closer to the truth. It is the left, in fact, that seeks to keep the common man in subjection to his GOVERNMENT. That's what happened in Nazi Germany, Teece. Spin it how you will, it is history.
Wallace was a died-in-the-wool progressive. (He was once part of the Progressive Party for cryin' out loud!). What would you expect him to say?!
Health Insurance is similar to forced car insurance because everybody pays something. If you drive you must have auto insurance. If you choose to take a cab or ride the bus,you don`t get a free ride. The bus and cab are insured by the owners, and you pay the insurance via the fare.

The lame stream media has made this invalid analogy, several times. Driving a car is a privilege, not a right. When you get a driver's license and buy a car, you are volunteering to use state roads. Also, you do not need proof of insurance to register a vehicle.
Obamacare individual mandate is forcing people to participate in a program that they otherwise would not elect to participate in.

I have been waiting for one of you ____ _____s to bring that up again.
When did driving on a Highway become a privilege??? When the cops wanted to get around Citizens use of the Fifth Amendment.(Another of the Freedom Loving Right Wing's attacks on our real Liberty)
When we rode or drove horse-powered vehicles, bicycles or walked on Public Roads and streets, there was no question of rights, a notion that persisted well into the Automobile Age.
In addition, there is nothing in the Constitution that allows deprivation of any Civil Right except possibly after renouncing of Citizenship. That is, no deprivation of Voting, Parental, driving, flying, Naturalization or ANY OTHER RIGHT ACCORDED TO OTHER CITIZENS.

PS. Massachusetts requires proof of Insurance to register a car in the Commonwealth.

Now explain to me the tax for people who chose to walk? That would be analogous to the Obamacare Individual Mandate.

What if I walk? Do I pay for "walk insurance"? What if I ride my bike? Do I pay for "bike insurance"?

Sure. Teddy Roosevelt was POTUS when the first states passed laws requiring all drivers to have a license. Do you think he got this idea when he was the New York City Police Commissioner? Has your state granted you a driver's license? The mind boggles.
What amazes me is the number of republican appointed supreme court justices that go progressive liberal, this is a rarity for a democrat appointee to go conservative. If I had to say why it would be because the main stream media is encouraged by their own beliefs to pound the republican appointee and republicans have been successfully intimidated to the point where they choose milquetoast candidates. When it comes to democrat appointees the main stream media gives them a pass for obvious reasons, they agree with them. By the way I do use the word "democrat" as in democrat party as a dig, why? I don't like them!

You are obfuscating the truth with your glib irrelevancies.
Everybody knows there was great admiration among the 1%ers for Fascism in Italy and Germany and they only reluctantly cooperated in the War against the Nazis.
And of course, the likes of Prescott Bush cooperated WITH the Nazis.
The Military wouldn't send the Sons of the 1% to the European Theater, sent them to the Pacific instead because they weren't certain of their loyalty.
And look at the way we turned on our former Allies after the War was ended, compared to the way we treated our former enemies.
Had England not been threatened by Germany, the Bushes et al would have been delighted to see the whole of Europe free of Communism/Socialism regardless of the Human cost.

Am I the only one who is not surprised by the Supreme Court ruling on health care? Corporations are People; Bribery Equals Free Speech; Compulsory Consumption via a Mandate for Profiteering—they are all rightwing proposals. This decision was not out of step with an activist Supreme Court; it is perfectly consistent with it. Hatched at the Heritage Foundation and implemented by none other than Mitt (today’s Democrats seem to be proud of it), this bill should never have been backed by any progressive-leaning Democrat, Independent, or populist in the first place. Instead of providing an example of how the Supreme Court can break with its activist image and rule impartially on an issue, it shows how far Democrats and all Americans have drifted to the right. “Individual responsibility” is, and always has been, a Republican talking point, brought to you by Ronald Reagan. However, even Ronald Reagan would not have advocated for the subordination of Americans as wage earners, consumers, and taxpayers to the will of big business and high finance, complete with enforcement by the IRS. In what promises to be one of the greatest ironies of the 21st Century, the Supreme Court’s support for this “radical socialist” legislation might just launch its premier architect, who now says he opposes it, into the White House. Maybe this weighed into Jon Roberts’ decision (?). He’s no dummy. Republicans should be celebrating, and Democrats mourning a loss; the Supreme Court just handed Mitt Romney his ticket to the White House. With a little bait and switch, we can start privatizing everything and transform America into a world class, 21st Century, pro-corporate, feudal empire.
This is an age when both political parties are working against the will of the American people. Forever arguing at cross-purposes about big government vs. small government, what we now have is a precedent for a government poised to do the bidding of big business, imposing its will on Americans on whatever terms big business deems essential. This decision opens up a door. What about funeral expenses? We’re all going to die. Shouldn’t we force people to buy life insurance that includes these costs, and at whatever level of reimbursement the industry insists is necessary? Putting a rubber-stamp government commission in there to oversee costs isn’t going to do anything more than put a government finger in the pie. We’ve already seen it with Blue Cross in California just after the health care bill passed. It’s a good cop/bad cop routine: The industry applies for a thirty-plus percent increase; the commissioner goes on national TV to reprimand them for their greed; the next day, they get their increase and everyone goes back to watching football and sitcoms. So, after the penalty fees spiral up to keep pace with rising costs, what happens when people can’t even afford to pay those? Put people in jail for tax evasion? We already lead the world in incarceration rates, and this is increasingly costly to states and taxpayers, so, shouldn’t people be forced to pay for their own incarceration by working in for-profit, private labor camps (actually, they already are!)? That would solve our minimum wage problem, too. I see another Democratic compromise bill on the horizon. How about public libraries? Yet another example of an egregious abuse of the free rider principle. Aren’t they really only bum magnets? Shouldn’t we phase them out, along with their pampered employees, and force people to pay private businesses for Internet access, reading material, media material, and employment services? The list goes on.
Mchaun, Do you even know what "alleged" means?
Sounds like an allegation to me!
"Either you or your most senior advisers were involved in managing Operation Fast and Furious and the fallout from it, including the false Feb. 4, 2011 letter provided by the attorney general to the committee," Issa wrote to Obama. "Or, you are asserting a presidential power that you know to be unjustified solely for the purpose of further obstructing a congressional investigation."
There are multiple sources of "allegations" which include congress. Your comment is senseless. The bottom line is he is withholding information for a reasonable congressional inquiry. He has been found in contempt of congress with bipartisan support. The presidents use of the executive privilege has for all intent and purposes stopped the investigation, postponing any conclusion until a point in the future where it makes little difference. Several government officials have said (ALLEGED) the president must be involved to use executive privilege.
al·leged/əˈlejd/Adjective: (of an incident or a person) Said, without proof, to have taken place or to have a specified illegal or undesirable quality.
Both parties realize the problem of increasing health care costs, and both parties have either lost sight of that issue, or play it down. This bill will do nothing to improve health care quality or reduce costs, and both parties acknowledge it. It addresses the symptoms of the problem only, not the causes, which are ultimately rooted in Wall Street and the financialization of America, and neither party wants to deal with that reality in a way that opposes their paymasters. Yes, everyone will be assured access—required to contribute, that is—but the quality they receive is another issue. Death from staph infection in America now exceeds death from Aids, putting it right up there with heart disease and cancer as a leading cause. We’re ranked 37th in quality health care delivery by the World Health Organization. Will this legislation change that? This sort of universal coverage, without a public option, promises nothing more than universal rip-off, and it really should be obvious to everyone by now. How well both political parties are able to herd sheep into the loving arms of high finance and corporate greed, with the help of government coercion; that is all that happened on July 28, 2012. Truly a triumph of Machiavellian politics and Orwellian propaganda, this decision does not bring us any closer to socialism or affordable health care, but it does bring us one step closer to fascism; and ironies of ironies, by a quasi-democratic, ostensibly left-leaning Congress, White House, Supreme Court, and media. Socialism? Hardly. This is individual responsibility and family values on steroids. Mafia capitalism. Democrats should have learned the lesson long ago: there is no compromising with criminal, crony capitalists. They mean to rule with impunity.

This from Wiki ...
"Bush was one of seven directors (including W. Averell Harriman) of the Union Banking Corporation, an investment bank that operated as a clearing house for many assets and enterprises held by German steel magnate Fritz Thyssen. In July 1942 the bank was suspected of holding gold on behalf of Nazi leaders. A subsequent government investigation disproved those allegations, but confirmed the Thyssens' control, and in October 1942 the United States seized the bank under the Trading with the Enemy Act and held the assets for the duration of World War II.
According to the journalist Joe Conason Bush's involvement with UBC was purely commercial and that he was not a Nazi sympathizer. The Anti-Defamation League and historian Herbert Parmet agreed with that assessment."
Marcus,
You wanted to know how the elderly/afflicted get to polling stations. In fact, that IS part of the problem. When the obstacles are added and redoubled then voters don't vote regardless of their rights. So requiring a photo ID in the form of a drivers license IS an unreasonable impediment.
By the way, in Indiana there have been exactly seven (7) instances of voter fraud......so the added requirements for a special drivers license is a solution searching for a non-existent problem........aka voter suppression.
And, NO, the polling officials will not accept a valid US passport since a special photo drivers license ID is required. Again......voter suppression.

Former Allies? You mean the Soviet Union? They were our ally in name only. They were fighting for domination over Europe, while the U.S. and British were fighting to liberate Europe. The Soviets spied on American nuclear weapon development and bugged FDR's quarters at the Yalta Conference and the Soviets didn't even allow the Doolittle Raiders that landed in Soviet territory to be immediately repatriated.

What? Your myopia makes Mr. Magoo look like Superman. It was Joe Kennedy, JFK's daddy, who as Ambassador to Great Britain advised FDR not to get involved in WWII, even after Hitler took Danzig. Not to mention liberals like yourself didn't want to get involved in WWII until after Hitler attacked the Soviet Union in Operation Barbarossa. As long as they had a non-aggression pact, libs loved Hitler.

Since when? It would be nice if you dealt with facts instead of hyperbole. Tell us about how you were denied your right to vote because the Indiana authorities would not accept your U.S. Government passport.
