Showdown In The Euro Zone
Greece says it will hold new elections as talks failed to produce a coalition government. That news came this morning. Yesterday, European markets dropped amid concerns that Greece’s departure from the euro was near. French President Francois Hollande meets with Angela Merkel tonight to discuss the crisis. The German chancellor says a state election defeat for her party won’t weaken her emphasis on budget discipline. But German policy makers are hinting at some flexibility on austerity. Meanwhile, Spain’s attempts to clean up its banking system might not be enough to build confidence. Diane and her guests talk about a showdown in the euro zone.

Please let us use caution on how we characterize the Greek people. I heard the name "spoiled brat" from a listener in today's show, and that really broke my heart! Greek people are suffering in a way unimaginable to people here. They are being ridiculed as a whole by the press every day for the mistakes and mismanagement of a small group of people. Most of them, farmers, construction workers, owners of small businesses have been working hard for generations. Let us remember what the Greeks have given to the western civilizations in politics, philosophy and science, and let us pay some respect to them for their pain and struggle! Finally, the way we react, and behave, and judge other people at their weakest moment, can only characterize who we truly are!

The Diane Rehm show is back to disproportionately letting almost only men get through on their phone, email, facebook lines especially on international polictics and foreign policy. Listen over and over the Rehm Team and the screener are being extremely gender biased. I would say they are back to about at 10 males to every 1 female that gets through. These leanings are often not deliberate. Listen closely

Kathleen:
I didn't hear Today's Broadcast, but a quick scan of Yesterday's Transcript shows the following-
Here's an email from Greta in Arlington, Va.: "
And, Michael, here's an email from George, who said, "Could you, please, detail Wall Street's intense efforts on Capitol Hill to water down any form of regulation, for example, Dodd-Frank?"
All right. Here's an email to counter that very point. It's from Janey, (sp?) who says,
All right. To Cincinnati, Ohio. Good morning, Richard.
And on that very point, Kathleen in Falmouth, Mass. has a question. Good morning to you. Kathleen.
All right. To Hillsdale, Mich. Good morning, Julie. You're on the air.
Let's go first to Tampa, Fla. Good morning, Tracy. You're on the air.
In fact, yesterday, Diane cut off the Woman who claimed to have been an FDIC liquidator before she finished a very strong comment.
And as I said recently, Diane certainly allows her Female Panelists considerable opportunity to present their PsOV.
Your Pal,

Why can't Greece exit the euro zone and keep using the euro is a currency, just like Zimbabwe uses US dollars.
This could save Greece from inflationary pressures and constant currency devaluations if they switch back to Drachma.

Please explain how 5 trillion dollar Obama borrowing has done anything other than kick the can down the road. The problem has only been made worse by a massively increased debt burden on the American tax payers. Stimulus spending was only a delay on unavoidable austerity.

"The problem has only been made worse by a massively increased debt burden on the American tax payers."
Huh??? What American tax payers???? You people claim that 50% of the Bottom pay no taxes and our people claim the Top pays nearly Zero.
Furthermore, that massive borrowing means the Thieves have secured the money they stole from the 99% and their Brats will be living high on the Hog with their greatly deflated Dollars we of the 99% will have to redeem with our sweat and blood and Social Security.
Wait until the Bush Tax Cuts are repealed and we have some money to think about before you start worrying about the Debt repayment.
Listen Duntov, you can whine your Refusnik whining till the cows come home, but you are NOT going to goad me into calling you a dumb SOB!!!!

I have not been booted out of this Site so far as I know.
Perhaps you are thinking of the Monte Imposter. I was not aware S/He had been evicted, but I am not surprised, since S/He was very negative and like the rest of DR Show Troglodyte Faction seemed possessed by an unrelenting hatred of ordinary Americans and the social, political and economic problems they did not cause but must pay for.
However, I do not feel those people should be evicted so long as their language and comments are no more caustic, cruel and disgusting than the usual filth the Right Wing smears around so lavishly.
Are you saying that Arkus Duntov is the Fake Monte reincarnate??
Monte Haun mchaun@hotmail.com
Absolutely, he's been back on here a number of times under different names. I suspect that he enrages someone and they pull the plug on him and he returns as yet another obnoxious character. He was originally monte with a lower case m.
I know you are not part of the libertarian insanity.
