Friday News Roundup - Domestic
The U.S. economy added 227,000 jobs in February, while the nation's unemployment rate remained stable at 8.3%. Consumer borrowing in January went up to nearly pre-recession levels. A look at what the increase in auto and school loans says about the economy. The House passed the bipartisan Jobs Act. In response to a listener tweet, Diane reacted to the ongoing controversy over Rush Limbaugh's insults directed toward Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke. "I think what he did with Sandra Fluke is disgusting. I think he gave a weak apology. I think he ought to be repudiated by every single candidate out there, and I think his apology was pure cowardice," she said:

Maybe Marcus doesn't realize he is part of the dumbing down.

I don't even realize what that is supposed to mean.

Who are these Paul supporters going to vote for if not the GOP ticket? Obama? If Paul's supporters are of such numerical strength, and of voting age, where are they during this primary season?

MarcusTullius, I was mostly referring to your comments on Reagan's "firearms owners protection act"

I'm not going to slam Reagan for the Hughes Amendment when Reagan was instrumental in bringing down the Soviet Union and NFA firearms are still legal to own by civilians in 37 of the 50 states. Again, the 1986 Act did not nearly impact the price of NFA items as did the internet.

MT, I am glad your here but I think we should shoot straight and not lower ourselves to being like the liberals.

Thank you for your semi appreciation, but Paul's foreign policy, or lack of one, is music to liberals' ears.
I'll be sure to relay the good news when I go to Knob Creek next month, the manufactures and the buyers of NFA firearms will be comforted to know it could have been worse. And I'll also let them know it's the Internets fault and not supply and demand and speculator investors brought in by the ban that forced up prices .

If blaming Reagan for NFA prices gives you, and those attending Knob Creek, comfort, have at it. Or you could acknowledge that speculators were brought in by the internet, not by the ban. Increase prices in NFA items (particularly C&R) did not rise appreciably until 10 years after the 1986 Act. That is just a fact. There are SOTs that still manufacture NFA firearms. Did Dillon stop making their minigun? If demand exceeded supply, why are their hundreds of registered NFA items for sale everyday on and off the internet?
There are more people who attend Knob Creek now than there ever were before 1986.
BTW: What has the NRA ever done for NFA collectors except throw them under the greyhound
I only just registered for this DRSHow, despite listening for years. I wanted to comment about Phyllis S's hysterical ramblings today. So anyways, I start looking around this website knowing Rehm also discussed the Fluke controversy some on Friday, and wondering about comments pro and con, and I all I see are a very few people having substance-free mud-slinging contests. You turn off people who want to actually see a vital discussion. Kind of like Phyllis. Could you go somewhere else?
1) you don't even know how to spell (errors in both of your last 2 posts - all I care to read)
and
2) do you think maybe you have issues with bullying?
Basically, I think this forum looks like it's too loosely moderated. I can't find the substance for all the screaming. This is a shame given this is NPR where usually one can find intelligent discourse.
Did the little tax increases have a "ripple" effect at the beginning of the year? Scare tactics.
