"Republicans embrace it and Democrats reject it. "
Yeah, right. If they do so, it is only to fit their needs.
Politicians of all stripes decide early on which party's claimed positions compliment the politician's personality - like trying on a suit.
Sometimes the calculation might be in line with what is possible in the locale they need to build support to get started. Once they get comfortable with the impersonation, they can begin climbing the ladder.
It is Pollyann-ish to believe to believe that these pols are in this for your benefit - if that was true, we would not be in the shape we are in.
The fact is, when they get to Washington and see the exercise of power, see how much they get ($700,000 and way up from there) to hire "staff" (personal servants), see how they are fawned over and pampered, free travel back and forth to their home state, etc....you have to be a rube, especially in light of where the country is and how it got there, to believe that crazy talk about the dems having any positive attributes.

I'm not sure why you go on and on talking about how Romney answered a question and didn't at least play the audio of the incident in context. Then as listeners we all can judge how clearly the question was expressed, how directly it was asked and then how strongly it was answered.
Employers should get out of the business of providing health care coverage and let employees get their own.
Then the chaste wouldn't have to pay for the promiscuous.
With regard to the pipeline issue... my understanding was that President O'Bama was honoring the unanimous call, including Republicans, of the state legislature over a state that the passing thru (South Dakota/?? Nebraska??), demanding an environmental impact investigation-- because of concerns they had
