Seems like adult Americans could get over the Nittany Lions shower scene and begin considering the even bigger Great Game in West Asia. If Israel is sicced
on Iran what will follow? Even after withdrawal from two ten year old wars nearby we no longer possess the wherewithal to tackle an unruly sophisticated population of 90 million, scour out the mountains, or deal with the neighborhood reaction.... and all for another cup of oil, just trying to keep Exxon and Chevron alive. If our corporate and military idiots "go for it" in Iran the typical American working taxpayer will be feeling like a raped child.
In the END neither conquest or industrialization of our watersheds will lower the price of fuel a penny. Crude hovers around a $100 a barrel no matter what, and natural gas is not cheap. Only alternative energy can save us. The entertainment value of seeing our aquifers and 10 year old boys drilled is fleeting at best.
I want to expand this discussion about Penn State (where I used to be on the faculty).
I am going to say that PART of the problem may be that people who witnessed this did not believe it. In other words, the assistant coach (then grad student) who saw Sandusky raping a boy probably could not reconcile this with his picture of the revered coach.
I expect Paterno did the same. How could it possibly be true?
Of course it was true. That's the problem. Many abusers - even pedophiles - look like normal, everyday people, not 'perverts'. So as a witness, your first thought is 'maybe I misunderstood.'
This is understandable, but it's also something we may need to arm ourselves against to help protect our kids.
Hey Grady Lee Coward,
Are you going to have the guts to face me on your charge of racism on this board today? Remember? You were the one who called me a "racist" and then couldn't produce ONE SINGLE POST that indicated any HINT of racism. Meanwhile, you were the one who said when you look up "Oreo" in the dictionary, you see a picture of Herman Cain? What is that?
Are you ready to retract your charge against me yet?
Remove the corporate- er- corrupt rulers and US will show fusion process(waste product two hydrogen atoms one atom oxygen.
Suck IT up till then.
2013 JAN DC will take action? Current projections show 2012 completion 99 percent unlikely.
Crux, cruces, crisis, crucifixation, love a good Catch-22.
The oNE grows bored- hates reruns.
'Carry on'
Clinton and Cain(damn reruns) had sex/ coerced/ power sex with many women. Bush jr Cheney and 'friends' HAD sex with entire nation.
But their strides in Soylent Green Industrial national rollout program fixing tomorrows food rioting by eliminating waste and wrong thinkers WHILE also supplementing protein source deficiencies commendable by sum.
Making better Americans for a green US today where green concentrates true value of people for mutual shared benefits. Veterans preference for ALL Scooper/ plant openings.
"Cain(damn reruns) had sex/ coerced/ power sex with many women. "
Unless you were there, you are a liar.
Men wanting sex from women? Who knew? Thought polyticks(many involuntary muscle movements)al men wanted sex with men. Remember Greece that way once too.
BUT I am puzzled that you object to the thought of sexual relations BUT apparently fine with the cannibalism- is that a Catholic Christian thing ?
How could she(Pink) be lying AND would not anyone be able to notice the buggery or too scared to admit that power intimidates?
Without the youth of the world saying no more to fear and exploitation I would have quit myself.
I see promise in their beliefs... healing the ill, feeding the hungry, living in a non-fatal way upon the planet... yes they will be beaten. Or they must be killed. They said that in Greece too once. Or was IT Rome?
Have seen several posters and comments on Soylent Green... they are just joking? Aren't they? Does it really taste like chicken?
That's what I was thinking during the first few weeks of the protests. But I'm beginning to see another angle. Occupy Wall Street was always about something much bigger than a movement against big banks and modern finance. It's about providing a forum for people to show how tired they are not just of Wall Street, but everything. This is a visceral, impassioned, deep-seated rejection of the entire direction of our society, a refusal to take even one more step forward into the shallow commercial abyss of phoniness, short-term calculation, withered idealism and intellectual bankruptcy that American mass society has become. If there is such a thing as going on strike from one's own culture, this is it. And by being so broad in scope and so elemental in its motivation, it's flown over the heads of many on both the right and the left.
K.I.S.S. OCCUPY for the HOLIdaze
go home... LOL... this IS our home NOW
Why now? asks one caller, concerning all the media attention to Iran. Weapons of mass distraction, of course—anything to divert attention away from OWS and the real causes of financial collapse here and in Europe. I thought someone dropped the bomb last week with Penn State, Cain sexual harassment allegations, and Perry’s memory glitches—over and over and over, preempting normal programming on all cable news channels. If the “debt crisis” IS discussed, it’s almost always with reference to those profligate European debtor nations (PIGS) that have been living high on the hog for way too long. On this broadcast, for instance, I don’t think Kim Ghattas’ revelation of spending by politicians on a junket is a very fair evaluation of the spending habits of your average Italian or Greek, or American, for that matter. Missing in these debates is the degree to which the lending strategies of nations like Germany and the U.S. have contributed to the global financial crisis.
Concerning Greece, here’s a revelation you’ll find right in Wikipedia: “In the beginning of 2010, it was discovered that Greece had paid Goldman Sachs and other banks hundreds of millions of dollars in fees since 2001 for arranging transactions that hid the actual level of borrowing. The purpose of these deals made by several successive Greek governments was to enable them to continue spending while hiding the actual deficit from the EU.” Hmmm. That’s a familiar sounding investment model. And this, by the way, before Papandreou and the Socialists came to power (Oct. of ’09). Concerning Italy, consider the role of Germany in financing its debt obligations. Deutsche Bank was a huge player. One of their traders—Greg Lippmann—even wrote a book on conducting short trades in securities, entitled “Shorting Home Equity Mezzanine Tranches.” Surely this side of the Euro zone debt crisis equation deserves some dishonorable mention. For more on how these “Pump and Dump” schemes work, as they’re known, here’s a link:

Harry Shearer (le show KCRW) was musing last week about the 2004 Olympics in Greece and how their Elite must have borrowed at the expense of their citizenry to pull it off. Now upsidedown bizzarro Obama is in Hawaii setting up another trade deal to lower our pay rates and export more jobs (and entire industries). Diane was interviewing Steve Innskeep the other week about "Instant City" (his new buock about Karachi, Pk.). Too bad most of us Americans can't just run away to the "Big City" and camp out until something turns up. Hey, maybe that's what Occupy is! When I first heard the title I thought Steve was writing about the command economy construction in China.
A command economy that anticipates environmental stresses and human need might be enviable, but China is the most capitalist nation of all. All our command economy does is guarantee the income stream of the rich. They actually build stuff. Not that Olympic Capitalism is a good thing. We'd get a Gold medal in Financialism.
Bawk-bawk-b-bawk-bawk-bawk.
There's Grady Lee Coward. Still here seeing my challenges to show ONE POST that justifies his calling me a racist. Still unable to do it while HE refers to Herman Cain as an "oreo"! Still chicken to come forward and withdraw his charge.
Bawk-b-bawk-bawk. That's Grady Lee Coward. The scardie-cat liberal.
