CNN's (aka Cain Naughty Network) Gloria Borger is a prime example of a liberal "news analyst" behaving as if she were Gloria Allred. Borger is in crusade mode because a minority presidential candidate does not share her political ideology.

"Norquist's pledge is often blamed for the deadlock in the Congressional super committee created to reduce the deficit. All six Republicans on the committee have signed Norquist's pledge not to raise taxes. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Tuesday, "The difficulty we find is that every one of these discussions, Grover Norquist seems to be in the room." Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) recently claimed Republicans were afraid of Norquist".

Disconnection from reality

The protests coming out of Penn State over the firing of a facilitator of pedophilia head coach and apparently the entire upper staff at a major university, seems eerily similar to the complete ignorance emanating from the Occupy movement. Young people incapable of following logical pathways to discover the true nature of events. But the so called adults in Ohio rejected tax increase initiatives and at the same time voted down a law that would have brought out of control public sector union benefits in compliance with sustainable tax revenues. Looks to me most people stop learning at about the age of 8.

“The deal privileged gambling on stocks over working for a living: The tax rate the richest pay on their long-term capital gains was slashed by 25 percent, while their rate on dividends fell by almost 60 percent. The move not only fueled speculation of Wall Street, it further widened the considerable gap between rich and poor”.

On putting off the energy pipeline decision until AFTER THE ELECTION. So all that talk about how we can't wait for Congress and we have to act NOW was all just politics.

Now Texas (and the nation) knows why Perry would not debate his opponent Bill White in the last governor's race. What an embarrassment for my home state of Texas.

Regarding the absurd notion that Rick Perry "just forgot a word." When was the last time you "forgot" something you ~believe~? Or something you ~understand~?

If Perry had been communicating a personal belief or understanding (rather than pap fed to him by his handlers) he could recall details. This gaffe is simply (more, mounting) evidence that Perry stands for nothing in particular. He was told which words to say, to appeal to a certain subset of the electorate, and he forgot key details.

I said this earlier this week and I stand by it. Personally I don’t care if Herman Cain had sex with twenty women and lied about it. Spending time proving/disproving this kind of thing, in the political process is a waste of time…. and is not the issue. His overall insensitivity is the issue.
He is a conservative and like all conservatives his policies are wrong, punitive and misguided. A man who blames unemployed people for being unemployed in a capitalist system has no understanding about the tenets of the capitalist system. It is the moral equivalent of blaming a soldier on a battlefield of being shot. Do you expect a person with that kind of philosophical bent to have anything other than misguided feelings regarding women?
Herman Cain epitomizes the standard fare exhibited by conservative Republican politicians. He is insensitive, ruthless, brutal, and doesn't have a caring bone in his body. Cain like other conservatives appeals to that segment of our society that feeds on hatred, fear, and misinformation. Philosophically they are wrong, but are simply unable to see any other way.

Although I love Diane Rehm and her style of interviewing, could you please reign in Sheryl Gay Stolberg this morning! She is too loud, and keeps interrupting everyone! I tune in to hear intelligent talk not one overbearing reporter's single opinion. STOP INTERRUPTING!!

This is silly right wing nonsense! Bill Clinton had 1 incident of oral sex more than18 years ago and the media still talk about it

November 11, 2011 - 11:36 am

One of your guests just characterize Herman Cain as charming. I disagree -- many like me have never found an iota of charm in this man. A poor adjective and unwelcome on your otherwise fine program.

Sad story. When children are abused, the trauma is widely spread.Family and friends of the victims and Abused children across our country are being retraumatized by this story. Shame on those who do not report these crimes.

November 11, 2011 - 11:40 am

On Perry's Gaffe - It's not a "we've all been there moment" because: In theory a claim that you would eliminate three major government agencies rests on a presumption that Perry thoughtfully wrestled with why this or that department should be eliminated. The disruption it would cause entails a duty to carefully consider one's reasons for taking such a course and so one would not forget the topic header if that were truly the case. Thus his mental slip pulls away the curtain that's usually constructed around a candidate and reveals a small minded demagogue standing on stilts of forgettable talking points. This is someone who has not taken seriously the job he presumes to occupy. -Bob

Too much inflammatory material this morning. It would be nice to rein in the hypocritical moralizing. The insensitive manner in which Diane handles these victimization issues really throws the show off center. Where's the balance ?

November 11, 2011 - 11:44 am

Regarding the Penn State situation, why has no one said, "I would have confronted that man in the act of raping that child and then called the police"? Would no one attempt to rescue the child first?

Joe Paterno followed his chain of command. He should have/ and probably did believe thhat his higher ups would call the police. If he did both (call up the police and his higher ups) his position may have been on the line. I am not saying there was not a moral oblagation to report this incident, but he did... at what point was he supose to believe that his higher ups dro[ped thee ball. I am not saying what happened was anything other than horrific BUT he did what he should have he reported the incident

November 11, 2011 - 11:48 am

The panel missed an opportunity to compare the damage done to public figures as a result of their character-diminishing immoral conduct. Really large elements of the American public are apparently willing to look the other way or ignore the character issue if the figure is charming enough. Bill Clinton committed more in adullterous, immoral conduct, and was certainly none the worse for wear by the American Public, starting as Governor, and well known during his candidacy. What circumstances make Herman Cain different?

November 11, 2011 - 11:53 am

I like to think that if I'd witnessed the horror of the rape of that little boy, I would have hollered and run to his rescue. The perpetrator would have known that he'd have more than a scared child facing him, and more importantly, that child would have had a grown up willing to stand by his side.

November 11, 2011 - 11:54 am

I suggest these panelists are missing the message carried by the Occupy Movement - there are no Republican/Democratic Parties. Obama had a mandate to close Guantanamo, end the Iraq/Afghan Wars, investigate 9/11, open government, hold financiers accountable, and clear Bush appointees out of government....and Republicans aren't happy?!

November 11, 2011 - 11:55 am

The media ignores Ron Paul for a good reason. Here is a list of four simple issues that make it impossible to consider Ron Paul seriously.
1)He does not believe in a separation of church and state. ~He thinks that it would be fine to let religious institutions take up the slack of restoring the social contract. Yeah, because that worked so well during the Industrial Revolution!
2)He does not believe in any income tax. ~Completely defund every aspect of government to the point where we have no government. Then, what we will then have is a nation run by corporations….see item 4 below.
3)He does not believe in any welfare programs, no safety net for anyone. ~Instead we would let faith-based ministries fund all of this. Religion has not been able to assuage human misery for centuries and now we are going to turn the task over to it?
4)He does not believe in any regulation on business. ~Let’s just run the car further into the ditch, shall we. Let Wall Street have a field day this time around (like they didn’t already).

Kathleen Willey (groping)
Juanita Broaddrick (rape)

And I haven't even gotten to Monica Lewinsky

Really? And that lets him off the hook with you?!
Put yourself in his shoes. Would you really have told your "higher ups" and assumed they called police? Would you never have even followed up at all? It happened in HIS Athletic Department!!! By all accounts, Paterno RAN Penn State. They couldn't even make him retire a few years ago. He looked the board in the eye and said "No". Guess what? He stayed.
Would you feel the same if it was your kid getting b-f'd? I'm thinkin' not. (To the rest of the board, I apologize for the graphic nature of this post, but that's what we're talking about). Steven, you are nothing but an enabler for good men who do nothing. Shame on you!

November 11, 2011 - 12:11 pm

In regards to Rick Perry: Why is the media so focused on his gaffe, when he says really awful things every day that get almost no scrutiny. In fact I haven't seen a single story attempting to explain what would happen to the United States government if he were to implement the plan to cut departments. As usual, the media loves to focus on anything other than the content of what the candidates are saying. If you're going to take heat from the Right Wing for covering stories, you may as well present some analysis of what they are saying.

As for Penn State, I've already heard 200 million people moralizing about how they would have done something different. That's great, but you weren't in the situation, and you haven't been a part of a big time football program. There are a lot of psychological factors that could prevent somebody from calling the police. In the case of McQueary he started out attempting to do the right thing by handling it in-house. Every football program attempts to handle issues in-house. If he goes and calls the police first, there's a good chance his dream of coaching football is gone forever. I don't think he did the Right thing in the end, but the situation is not nearly as easy and black and white as people suggest it is. The responsibility lies at the top with Paterno, and he got fired. The demonstrations by students sickened me. Fortunately they will have a candlelight vigil for the victims tonight.

Perhaps you will enlighten us as to the, "out of control public sector union," workers in Ohio. ie. strikes, stoppages, slowdowns, etc??

The only Public Sector Unions that have any power are the cops and are you suggesting that they should be brought into compliance with sustainable tax revenues? How would you propose that the State and Cities do that, considering that the cops always get what they want?

It hasn't been so long since the, once excellent, Cleveland Public Schools were thrown into Receivership, which I understand wrought considerable pain on Teachers, among others.

Grady Lee Coward who is too stoopit to understand that his careless use of the term DIMINISHES it when REAL racism occurs - like when he says that Herman Cain is an "oreo".
