During the discussion one of the speakers commented that social entitlement spending significantly outweighs military spending. But what portions of current Social Security and Medicare spending are paid by the Social Security and Medicare Trust Funds? In other words, what portion of entitlement spending is merely giving back what tax-payers savings were set aside over the years? If those "refunds" are included in any comparisons they are obviously flawed.

The enemy is within -"American Statistics" and geo-normative-YOUTH! Logistics.
If one Person [geo-youth / geo-math] of a statistical model of LEADER CALIBER! is "left behind" that person can unravel all the "good intentions" abroad! that we sweetly conspire in "the wild west" where some "people" have long fam-geo-history, some have no fam-geo-history and $ome have the short end of the stick -like v-tech & ft hood shooters, LEFT COAST DRUGS...
If we don't solve OUR! PROBLEMS [preemptively] of the most opaque disbelief [don't "look" just conspire to solve] then we're perpetually dragging an invisible wrecking ball in the form of desperately MISLOCATED YOUTH "left behind"? a GEOGRAPHIC!!! equation, americans emotionally neglected by proxy BEHIND ENEMY LINES "within America" as ambiguos as a mirror image. as utterly relavant as future war criminals undetected, IGNORED, resentful, by GEO-STATISTICAL QUANTIFICATION "T.Y.N."
Health care and EDUCATION are in the same situation.
American Pie looks good, but if you DON'T/WON'T LOOK [at exactly what where who and WHY!] you're eating, you might ACTUALLY be eating crow or worse.
Science, Logistics and KNOWN HISTORY are what made America great and what the opposing world WANTS US TO FORGET.
A simple filter will make "OUR!!! hearts & minds" pure again, the caliber of compression, the location of youth! normal and POWERFUL [naturally knowing!! but solving! AMERICA FIRST ; a.n.n.y.t. can make Hate unnecessary {{T.Y.N. "A.N.N.Y.T." Transplantable Normative Youth,}} a SWAN "above" the dogs of war;who's left wing is TRAPPED!!! in ANNYT, E.T. phone home {destroy HOSTAGE planet > l,o,l,?!} ; an imperative drop of ink more powerful than a full tank of blood -((psycho huh? I know, but it is ABSOLUTELY TRUE x-flies = unlimited destiny, we MUST! MANIFEST our faith. vacume ying, vacume yang, smile! dam it -hate must be geographically solved, US FIRST. Exchange Student

jbharuch:

Why do you think they they ran out of money? They could not compete with us militarily the most advance and wealthy country in the world ?Are you ashamed of that? Being number 1#. Thank you Ronald Reagan for being the leader that you were. we sure need a leader like you rightnow.

It to bad jbharuh, some people lack alot of common sense when it comes to history especially economics, and I think you are one of them.

"Military Savior of the World," Diane? From what I read in first-hand accounts, the people living in the regions that we're 'saving' don't see US that way....

Sounds like your reading what you want to read. I heard different. Many people in Iraq know they would be slaughtered like they were during Saddams times. Sunni vs Kurds, Sunni vs Shiti.
My info, live people that have come back and told their stories to audiences.

Keep reading you may get there.

You are probabaly reading what you want to read.

"1.Republicans, and conservatives, always get this smug little grin and then say, "Well, obviously, we need to do something about entitlements."
Yea, here is what we do. First take the cap off of Social Security. People who work for a wages have paid for over 30 years $2.6 trillion into Social Security to cover the baby boomers retirement. This money was spent to make the deficit look smaller. This $2.6 trillion is in effect an income tax, that only working people whom made income under the social security cap. Remove the cap, and have the income earners over the cap, pay the $2.6 trillion back. This will make Social Security solvent until what, 2050?"

My response: We would not have a SS deficit if money was not borrowed off it starting in 1966. It would of made more interest. You pay the debt down by cutting programs not paying it down.
2. The problems with Medicare are people that are put into the system that have never paid into it. What wrong with outsourcing it? It cut costs. Computers elinimated many clerical positions.
3. You bring up WWII and the 50% tax rate. How about WWI when the income tax rate was 1% and told it would not go up any higher.

We cannot get to the bottome of this issue, if we do not look at the Collapse of WTC #7

The Media will not do it, unless we "demand" coverage .... here with Diane's show.

We cannot stop spending on Offense. They will always create excuses, and media campaigns to spend more and more. There is no Twelve Step for this madness.

Proof: Libya.
There are two guys (Profs from Trinity and one in Texas) who knows more about Libya, they both say .... we were served lies to attack Libya, whereas the entire media, academics, AEI, Hillary, Tel-Aviv, White House says.... we did a good job in saving women and children be killed by Libya's Military Forces. BS BS BS BS BS

1. Yes we borrowed off SS. Reagan cut taxes, and floored the gas on military spending, (that would be Keynesian economics) which caused a huge spike in the debt. It was covered up by moving SS revenue to the general budget. In other words, cutting taxes for the wealthy and raises taxes on working people. The Greenspan commission raised taxes on SS to pay for the baby boomer retirement. In effect the wealthy got off on not paying this tax. Take the cap off SS and use the money for what it was intended for, SS benefits. Your solution is to just cut the benefits. I want my money back as I was told I would get it! Not 9 years before I retire. Yea, I can just imagine how much money I would get back if invested in the casino stock market.
2. Outsourcing cuts cost? I notice its only people at the bottom of the pay scale that get outsourced. What a CEO from India just couldn't do the job, right? Remember 1787, it could happen again.
3. Yes a 50% tax rate for corporations, with no exceptions. Don't pay taxes on profits earned in US, then you can't sell here. 1% tax rate in WW1. Why not 0% tax rate from the dark ages. It would be great to a peasant again.

LesleyLee: Correct again that if we had the power to fully investigate 9/11 we could demand an open book on defense, intelligence and many other things the people deserve to know. But recognize this: Amy Goodman at Democracy Now and Bill Moyers (now canceled) at his Journal both refused to host any expert or author or activist or whistleblower addressing the issue. Even Mike Hagen at Radiorbit (a mushroom head) was taken off after Paul Laffoley related a tale about bin Laden Construction International and explosives built into the WTC complex. Our government and big business possess the ability to censor, frame and disappear. Even poor old former cop Michael Ruppert was accused of attempted rape.
Libya has more oil reserves than the entire USA including Alaska and offshore. It's nationalized oil company is the prime target and there will be killing until it is secured. It's tragic how the American people finance their own subjugation through taxes while their oppressors are exempt. So you pay your taxes and your deductions for 30 or 40 years to find the programs canceled and a big nuclear debacle in your back yard. Diane was nearly canceled over "Gasland" (fracking) and you expect her to grasp the third rail of fascist oligarchy: 9/11 Truth (an issue subject to hijack by Oligarchy intelligence itself, much like the Nazis burning the Reichstag).

patin 25: Reagan was a former pitchman, red baiter and a human shell, a grotesque head for a corporate monster with a computer network brain, like Bachmann or Palin or Trump today His handlers had the goal of upping military spending to hollow out progressive government and "starve the beast" of social programs, environmental regulation and educational spending. They are now in sight of their fascist corporatism: a limitless authoritarian state and a weak almost non-existent regulatory and service government.
The rich are too big to regulate but the workers find their bodies and daily activities invaded by surveillance and advertising strategies. I would hesitate to blame John Maynard Keynes. Deficit spending was a capitalist strategy implemented by Alexander Hamilton to induce wealthy elites to invest in government for a modest guaranteed return. We owe most of our national debt to the same parasites who own the banks and the FED, so capitalism is swallowing its own tail. The same is true of Japan, only more so. As Michael Parenti, then Naomi Klein, have written, the Oligarchy has found a way to profit from any outcome, including disaster and Depression, as well as war.

Simply amazing that our nation spends so much for war. Just think of how wonderful our planet would be if we set the standard and invested that same amount for peace instead. So, we spend more than the next 15 nations -combined- on the machinery of war. How about this...we cut that amount in half...slash it all...so we would effectively be spending as much as the following 8 countries. I wonder who might invade us then? Right!...noone. Our nation, and the world for that matter, won't be right until we pay our teachers like we pay our pro athletes, our military has to have bake sales to buy its bullets. I hope I see this one day.
