Guess what? There is going to be austerity whether we like it or not. The current debt of the 300 million citizens of this great country will be paying an average of $42,000 per person to pay off a 14 trillion dollar debt.
Something that favors the "poor and disenfranchised" is that they do not pay Federal income taxes. I believe the figure is that 10% of the US population pay 90% of the taxes. 50% of Americans do not pay federal income taxes. These poor and disenfranchised are not starving and have excess to taxpayer funded health care and government schools. Best of all, they have opportunities to climb to a better life like millions others before than have.
We in the middle are paying way too much in local, state, and federal taxes and seeing our dollar worth less by the the printing of paper money.
Go Figure.
