I associate MI6 with Kim Philby and Cambridge Spy ring more than with James Bond.
In the WWII period the fiasco of possible cooperation with Adm. Canaris (head of Abwehr) stands out.
Poles broke enigma code in 1933. The fence were clueless about it until WWII.
There is british mythology around it.

I know this was a fill-in because President Carter was delayed in Cleveland due to illness, but it was probably moved up from a later date.
Yet it was a Valentine to covert operations dominated by members of the wealthy class and the business elite. Not only was the author's recall terminated in 1949, it was already pretty selective for fluff and against substance. This would have to be a fantasy book as compared to the actual skullduggery, like substituting Harry Potter for human sacrifice rituals. Fairytales and feelgood are inadequate for NPR. Try to remember that, producers.
There are many rumors that the biggest supporters of the mullahs in Iran and elsewhere has been the British government and that Ayatollah Khomeini and his father who was an Indian were paid agents of the MI6. Somebody should do some research on that.

I also remenber a certain caller under the name of "Bob" making a certain astute comment about the cambidge five. I recognised the callers voice. He was no "Bob". It was Webster Tarpley. What is very interesting and creepy is that this call by Tarpley has been erased from the audio archives and is also been deleted from the written transcript.
I'm not tripping!
