We have fundamentalist Christians in the U.S. who try to impose their beliefs on the rest of us. Sometimes our politicians cater to them to secure votes.
In your opinion, Mr. Rashid, what are the desires of the MAJORITY of the people in Pakistan and Afghanistan? Do they want a free society or do they want a restrictive one? And, are their political leaders representing what the majority of the population wants?
Could your esteemed guest possibly take a few moments to speak on the issue of Kashmir and what role America and the American people might play in helping India and Pakistan to achieve and agreement on that topic.
It would seem the basis for the creation of the Taliban was in fact a desire by ISI to have a ready made pool of fighters to send into Kashmir as well "strategic depth" in the event of a fourth conflict with India. As such it would seem that Kashmir in many ways may be the key to Afghanistan?
The U of K negotated with a so called terrorist group Sinn Féin, in Ireland and successfullly negotiated the peace that is maintained in that country even today. The idea seemed horrific then too, but it did work. It seems a brilliant idea to at least try...
