Your guest mispoke regarding the new nuclear proliferation treaty signed yesterday. It states that "the US has the right to make any adjustment to this policy" in the case of biological weapons threats.
thank you, L Hill, Mercersburg, PA
A commenter in Foreign News Wrap-Up today said that the U.S. pledges not to retaliate with nukes against countries who attack us with chemical or biological weapons, so long as they signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty.
This is blatantly FALSE! There is a specific reservation by the U.S. in the treaty protocols whereby we state we will feel free to abrogate its provisions in case of chemical or bio attacks.
If this false data goes unchallenged, Diane helps perpetuate the conservative FALSE NARRATIVE that this is a "radical left" Administration.
Nothing could be further than the truth. The treaty calls for a 33% reduction in nukes. This is precisely the position taken by the Reagan Administration in the 1980s.
Great show Diane. Welcome back!
There was some brief discussion of Mutual Assured Destruction and the observation made that it failed it a first strike was launched. The argument was there would be no reason to counter after a first strike.
This is an incomplete understanding of MAD. It not only deterred the first strike but the last strike as well. The nuclear logic required the first striker to continue with attacks until it could be assured there were no more WMD. There would be reason to counter after the first strike to attempt to head off the final strike.
I am dismayed that an intelligent panel could honestly postulate that the recent earth quakes and volcanic eruption could be caused by global warming.
The continents move. It is a violent occurance. This violent change is normal and natural and has occured long before man ever used fossil fuels.
The continents have drifted over 2000 miles so far and although the word "drift" is a gentle word, the last tsunami moved the tectonic plate only 60 feet.
Stop the nonesense and fear generated by such a thoughtless comment.
