One of this summer’s reality TV series is about a group of Amish youth encountering city life for the first time. Eric Brende experienced an opposite scenario — his new book is about the year he and his bride spent living in a Mennonite community, without electricity and other modern conveniences. This MIT graduate talks about the lasting effects this low-technology lifestyle has had on him and his family.
