Laura Rothenberg’s "Breathing for a Living" (Hyperion)
Before she passed away in March 2003, Laura Rothenberg wrote a memoir about her life and 22-year struggle with cystic fibrosis. She recorded an audio diary, called "My So-Called Lungs". We'll learn more about Laura from her partner Bryan Doerries, a poet and director, and one of her physicians, Dr. Howard Zucker, associate professor of clinical pediatrics and clinical anesthesiology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Preston Campbell, medical director for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, describes what is being done to control the disease and find a cure.
