Ann Packer presents her acclaimed debut novel, The Dive from Clausen’s Pier (Knopf). The title refers to the accident at the center of the story, in which a young man suffers a spinal injury at a picnic one weekend, and his longtime girlfriend is torn over her responsibilities to him and to herself.
