"...using a synthesis of Buddhism and psychology..."
Statements like that get me a little bit worried.
Being a Buddhist woman from Thailand, which is known for its Buddhist masters, I have seen that there is quite a bit of misunderstanding about Buddhism.
It seems that many of the authors who who say they incorporate Buddhism in there self help books have never actually been to a Buddhist temple. They have probably never sat down and listened to a Dharma lesson. They probably do not incorporate any of the FUNDAMENTAL concepts, such as anicca (impermanence) or anatta (not-self) in to their teachings.
While I applaud the fact that they are at least bringing attention to the real world benefits of Buddhism, I am concerned that by providing just a little bit of information, they might be doing more harm than good.
